The City of Ashland (pop. 3,086) is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the Emergency Medical Services Department Head position. The ideal candidate is motivated, has excellent communication skills and works well with the public, City staff and governing body.
The Emergency Medical Services Department Head will manage, plan and direct the overall operations and activities of the Emergency Medical Service department, reporting to the City Administrator. The department head will be responsible for two part-time employees and approximately 25-30 volunteers.
A Paramedic License from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is preferred; and three (3) years of experience in management and command of EMS or Fire Rescue operations, or combination of related education and work experience in the EMS field.

Summer Library Assistant
The Ashland Public Library seeks an enthusiastic Summer Library Assistant with a commitment to public service, knowledge of technology, and excellent communication skills.
Part-Time Summer Library Assistant: 10-15 hrs/week between May 20th - Aug 10th
$13.75 per hour Shifts will be Monday-Friday, with two Saturday per month from 10-3pm will be required.

Responsibilities
· Assist with weekly children’s summer events and programs, teen events, and any other summer programs sponsored by the library
· Accurately sort and shelve library materials in a timely manner
· Assist patrons at the circulation desk
· Assisting patrons with technology and information needs
· Assist with setting up and/or taking down meeting room furniture
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Must be at least 16 years old
· Computer literacy and a general knowledge of technology is required
· Ability to sort alphabetically, by genre, in correct sequential order
· Experience in library, teaching, childcare, or customer service is preferred
Physical Demands/Work Environment
· Must be able to read a computer screen or documents, grasp, handle, reach, speak, walk, and stand for long periods
· Occasionally required to kneel, twist, lift, carry, drag, bend, stoop, squat, push, and/or pull up to 35lbs
· Work is generally performed in a climate-controlled building with occasional exposure to outdoors in hot weather conditions
